What you need to know about the measles outbreak
Fri, Mar 7, 2025
Early vaccination of your child is not currently recommended unless your child is 6 months of age or older and traveling internationally to a high-risk country or area of outbreak in the United States. Not all countries are considered high risk, and not all states have outbreaks. For children who follow our routine vaccine schedule and have already received 2 doses of their MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, additional vaccination is not indicated for travel. For children older than 1 but younger than 3 years of age who are traveling to high-risk areas, they may receive their second dose early, prior to travel.
If you are planning travel and think your child qualifies for early vaccination, please call our office to schedule an appointment to discuss risk factors, travel plans, and timing of vaccination.
